So just what is a F.B.G.S?
By now you have probably heard of a Facebook Garage Sale (F.B.G.S). You might have even seen one in action, but just what exactly is it?
The queen inventor of the FBGS is the one and only Kat from Charlipop Kids. One night earlier this year she was trying to work out what to do with a box of bits and pieces from the store, and tested out typing in a few items on Facebook for sale. It was an instant success and so the Facebook Garage Sale idea was born and now they are bigger and better (and hugely more popular) than ever.
So, how does it work?
Basically an item is described in a very brief form, with size or sizes, quantity available, and a price. (For example: Minymo berry red marle with shirring at neckline and colourful embroidery smock long sleeve top $16 Size 5 and Size 9m available). The first person to type in “yes’ (or sometimes even just a “y”) will win it. Simple as that. At the end of the night Kat tallies up the totals and you check out via the Charlipop Kids store website, taking your ‘name’ through the checkout.
FBGS are an excellent opportunity to get some crazy, crazy bargains on top quality designer clothes.
This weekend Kat has another one planned for example, all OUCH $10 a piece, Minymo $10-$20 and Fixoni $10-$15. Quite often there are certain sizes as they can be sample or end of season items with limited sizes available.
The key to getting an item is to keep hitting the ‘refresh’ key as items are listed approximately every 1-2 minutes. As an idea, last week the Charlipop FB page had almost 25,000 ‘visits’ due to people hitting their refresh key during the sale.
You have to be a ‘fan’ of the Charlipop Kids Facebook page to be able to ‘comment’ on wanting to buy an item described.
Also make yourself a ‘fan’ of the F.B.G.S Facebook page where other stores can also list their sales.
Be warned though: they are very, very addictive.
